Please note that out of an abundance of caution, SJAC will continue to keep a mandatory mask policy in place for all programs<\/b> (workshops, galleries, performing arts events, rental events) after the Public Health restrictions are lifted on March 14\/22. Workshop Description<\/span><\/h6>\n

Do you have a collection of t-shirts that you would love to showcase in a quilt? Preserve them in a memory quilt that you make yourself! Join Margo for a six-week quilting\/sewing course and make a great keepsake for a friend, family member or for yourself! You can choose between creating a T-shirt quilt or bring your own project<\/b> of your choice.<\/b><\/p>\n

Option 1: T-shirt Quilt<\/span><\/h6>\n

Supplies needed<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • t-shirts\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • fusible medium weight interfacing, the amount depends on how many t-shirts will be in your quilt. A suggestion to begin is 4-5 metres.<\/li>\n
  • thread<\/li>\n
  • quilting batting, backing and binding fabric will be determined upon the size of your quilt once the quilt top is complete. I will help you with that.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Option 2: Pick your own project<\/span><\/h6>\n

    Bring a project of your choice, either a sewing or quilting project. <\/b>I can provide some options if you wish.<\/p>\n

    Other items you will need to bring:
    \n\u2022 portable sewing machine
    \n\u2022 pins\/ safety pins
    \n\u2022 seam ripper
    \n\u2022 shears
    \n\u2022 Optional: rotary cutter and mat<\/p>\n

    About the Instructor<\/span><\/h6>\n

    Margo has over thirty-five\u00a0years of sewing experience and has an Education degree in Home Economics from the University of New Brunswick, Class of 1991. She has taught sewing to middle school students as well as youth and adult sewing courses for the City of Saint John Recreation Department for numerous years. Says Margo, \u201cI take pride in providing sewing instruction in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
