{"id":23095,"date":"2022-09-08T15:36:16","date_gmt":"2022-09-08T15:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jonathanselig.com\/sjac-backup\/?p=23095"},"modified":"2022-09-08T16:23:17","modified_gmt":"2022-09-08T16:23:17","slug":"lynn-wigginton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jonathanselig.com\/sjac-backup\/2022\/09\/08\/lynn-wigginton\/","title":{"rendered":"Lynn Wigginton"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Call of the Running Tide \u00a0| \u00a0Port Saint John Gallery \u00a0| \u00a0September 9 &#8211; October 28, 2022<\/h5>\n<p>[columnize]<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #107b85;\">Artist Statement<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Observing and interpreting the built and natural world of where I live has been a life-long commitment. <em>Call of the Running Tide<\/em> is a series of paintings depicting an area shaped and determined by the Bay of Fundy.<\/p>\n<p>Using layers of textured brush strokes and a colour palette particular to the bay, with each painting I have focused on the movement of the water, winds and tides, three elements that continually mould this unique body of water and its shoreline.<\/p>\n<p>While these paintings highlight the energy and beauty to be found here, they also speak of a fragile and increasingly precarious place.<\/p>\n<p><em>For Dale.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #107b85;\">Artist Biography<\/span><\/h6>\n<p>Lynn Wigginton is a Saint John based artist engaged with the spaces and materiality of New Brunswick\u2019s landscapes and built heritage. Trained as a printmaker and now working as a painter, Wigginton\u2019s paintings evoke a strong sense of place while thoughtfully considering the textures and materials of her immediate environment.<\/p>\n<p>Lynn Wigginton earned her BFA from Mount Allison University in 1974. In 1995 she co-authored and provided paintings for the book <em>On Earth as it is In Heaven &#8211; Gothic Revival Churches of Victorian New Brunswick<\/em>\u00a0(Goose Lane Editions.)<\/p>\n<p>Lynn Wigginton has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in New Brunswick and across the country, and is represented locally by Spicer Merrifield Gallery and Fog Forest Gallery.
