{"id":24765,"date":"2024-01-24T20:09:10","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T20:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jonathanselig.com\/sjac-backup\/?p=24765"},"modified":"2024-01-24T20:10:23","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T20:10:23","slug":"patricia-tingley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jonathanselig.com\/sjac-backup\/2024\/01\/24\/patricia-tingley\/","title":{"rendered":"Patricia Tingley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rearrangements \u00a0| \u00a0Library Gallery \u00a0| \u00a0January 12 &#8211; March 8, 2024<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>[pullquote]\u201cNature is loved by<br \/>\nwhat is best in us.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i>Ralph Waldo Emerson<\/i> [\/pullquote]<\/p>\n<p>Without doubt, finding beauty in nature is a universal experience.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In creating these paintings, I have discovered the beauty in its remaining fragments: the sinuous curve of the stem of a fallen leaf, the dramatic swoop of a frond of dried seaweed, the elaborate filigree of sun-bleached lichen found on the forest floor.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is a certain choreography involved in rearranging these collected remains, an opportunity to celebrate the small details in the often unnoticed beauty that surrounds us.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This collection of work attempts to highlight the mystery of the overlooked, by quietly suspending these rearrangements in a weightless moment in time.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8211; Patricia Tingley<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>Artist\u2019s Biography<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patricia Tingley is a New Brunswick artist based in Saint John.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>She studied Fine Arts at Mount Allison University and the New School of Art in Toronto. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Her work has included illustration and design, and her paintings have been exhibited at the Saint John Arts Centre, the Imperial Theatre, UNB\u2019s Lorenzo Society, and Hooper Studios.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Currently, she is primarily working with graphite and water-based mediums, often creating painted rice paper collage as a starting point for each piece.
