‘Claudia’ – Melissa Kennedy<\/p><\/div>\n

SJAC is thrilled\u00a0to welcome back classically-trained artist and educator Melissa Kennedy! This summer, Melissa offers a special week-long portrait sculpting course. Combining demos and lots of hands-on sculpting time, students will work through observing a live model.<\/p>\n

Melissa will help you to make the most of time-tested classical methods in sculpting the human face:
\n– setting up a portrait in clay
\n– establishing a consistent perspective
\n– finding ‘points of truth’
\n– looking for structure and likeness in a portrait
\n– how to look for and map out forms
\n– setting up symmetry in three dimensions<\/p>\n

About the Instructor<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Melissa Kennedy is a Hampton, NB\u00a0native; she earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts degree from UNB and NBCCD, and is a graduate of The Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. In her\u00a0<\/span>second year she was honoured to receive a prize for ‘best drawing in the sculpture department’ and was the recipient of an\u00a0assistant teacher scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n

She is presently on faculty at the Academy as a principle instructor of drawing in the sculpture program, specializing in pencil, ink and charcoal media. Images shown are examples of Melissa’s work.<\/span><\/p>\n

August 12 – 16, 2019 (Mon-Fri) \u2022 9:30AM-4:30PM\u00a0(1 hr break for lunch) \u2022 Cost: $400; all supplies included \u2022 Space is limited, maximum of 6 participants<\/strong><\/p>\n
