The italic hand is one of the loveliest and most versatile calligraphic hands. It originated in Italy during the Renaissance and is still widely practiced today. Join Miriam Jones for this workshop which will introduce you to the basic letter forms of a standard Italic. By the end of the six weeks, students should begin to feel comfortable forming words in the script. Level: Suitable for beginners, or intermediate calligraphers seeking to practice their skills. Calligraphy supplies, beyond the very basics, are not always easy to get without going online. You may be able to find most of the following items at Michaels, and Endeavours in Fredericton certainly sells them. If you can\u2019t get hold of everything, don\u2019t worry: the instructor will bring a supply of\u00a0pen holders, nibs, ink, and paper\u00a0to sell at cost. If you have never done calligraphy before, you can get going with very little equipment. If you are more experienced, bring as much or as little of your kit as you like!<\/div>\n
